Australian UFO is aircraft with safety lights?

December 14, 2010Comments No comments

Remember the recent UFO sighting over Adelaide, Australia? It’s been touted as one of the better UFO videos lately, being shot with a steady hand and all. Now, UFOEYES commenter Bathtub provides a plausible explanation of what we’re seeing in the video.

Those could well be pulse lites, used on some light aircraft to improve their visibility to others.

It’s not uncommon for aircraft to be equipped with pulsing safety lights that are used by pilots when approaching the runway. The lights improve air safety by making the aircraft more visible and by decreasing the risk for bird strike incidents.

The light system that can be seen in the video below is manufactured by Canadian company Pulselite. One of their customers is, incidentally, Australian airline Qantas, who operate both domestic and international services from Adelaide.

I believe we may have solved the mystery.
